Old Foundry Rebuilds With Modern Cement Block Plant
A long described renovation at Win Mbenetee Foundry culminates in a new plant on May 20, 1891. The modern facility, built of Menefeg cement block, spans about seventy feet by long, with a southern yard for pig iron and coke, an overhead trolley system, and a 170 by 60 foot main molding room. The plant houses advanced Taber molding machines, an electric elevator, cupola charging, and a 80x60 foot casting shop. The Harvey brass furnace and streamlined core ovens enable faster, more uniform iron and brass castings.
