Moran and Attell Fight to Draw in 25 Rounds
Owen Moran, England’s featherweight champion, drew 25 rounds with American champ Abe Attell at Colma Arena San Francisco. Moran pressed early and pressed late, bags of aggression and headlong rushes. Attell showed clever defense but landed few telling blows, with Moran’s sustained pressure and savage clipping in close rounds winning the crowd’s favor. Referee Jim Jeffries called the fight a draw after a tense last round. Overweight issue noted prior to the bout. Moran carried two ounces too much and forfeited $250 before a punch was thrown.

Rioting In Indiana As Mob Attacks Street Cars
Five persons were injured and two priests taunted with stamps and missiles when outsiders opposed strike breakers led to a riot. Cars were stopped, lines cut, and men manning them driven off by the mob as rocks and missiles flew. Mayor Guthrie appealed to Governor Hanly for state troops after police proved unable to quell the disturbance. Colonel Stith was appointed to assess the situation as deputies were sworn in sparingly. The clash arose from a union sympathy rally and the company’s plan to use imported strike breakers to run cars. Continued on Page 3.
