Mrs A D Reid suffered a stroke. her speech and nourishment remain a concern. An earthquake in Aklatic Turkey reportedly killed about thirty and left many homeless. A home invasion in Kansas City with threats and dynamite involved a suspect about seven or eight years old. Milam County considers a county option election on March 4. Henry W from Schart Packaging remains in critical condition after a stroke weeks ago.
In Constantinople on February 16 a series of homes and government buildings were damaged or destroyed in a major blaze that affected the capital's urban area. Local authorities reported extensive property losses and ongoing efforts to contain the fire.
Washington February 16 The Senate backed an amendment to the naval bill calling for one half of the United States Navy to be kept on the Pacific coast at all times or as far as practicable. The measure assigns discretion to the president to determine the Pacific allocation.
In Washington on February 16 President elect Taft announced that Philander C. Knox is now legally eligible to receive the appointment of secretary of state. Taft stated at the White House that Knox will be the premier choice for the Taft administration.
