Fort Aber fire destroys business district including depot

A large blaze in Fort Aber destroyed most of the town's business section, leveling three general stores, the Milwaukee depot, an elevator and several warehouses. The telephone exchange and telegraph lines were down, with damages estimated between eighty thousand and a hundred thousand dollars. Firefighters contained the blaze after it damaged nearby homes and communications were cut to neighboring towns.

Explosion at Wicke Factory Triggers Large Fire in New York

A massive explosion at the William Wicke Co factory on East Thirty fourth Street shattered the shaving tower and wrecked the engine hall. The blast caused extensive brick damage and a towering 200 foot smokestack to crack. Nearly 800 workers were in the building. only two seriously hurt, many treated for minor injuries. Fire deluged the building, spreading across half the block and prompting five alarms and a widespread blaze that continued into the night.

Royal funeral pageant to move today in London

The Duke of Norfolk announced a program for the royal funeral procession subject to weather changes. A guard of honor will be mounted at London stations and Buckingham Palace. The coffin will move from Portsmouth to London with numerous battalions and royal escorts aboard high carriages.
