Banquet of National Civic Federation Discusses Labor Peace

The eighth annual National Civic Federation banquet in New York gathered over 700 leaders from labor and finance to debate currency reform, with Melville D. Ingalls as toastmaster and General Grant arguing about the canteen's use in the army. Yeggs Cause Major Explosion at Dupont Powder Works

Six hundred quarts of nitroglycerin exploded at the Dupont powder works two and a half miles from Bowling Green tonight. No loss of life reported though a vest and horse blanket were found near the scene. Police attribute the blast to yeggmen attempting to replenish explosive supplies. Plant heavily damaged.

Tragic double death follows alleged love affair

In Brooklyn a telegraph operator Else Kerlin aged 22 and Bernard E Wallace of the Commercial Cable company are killed in an automobile tragedy. Police say Wallace wounded Kerlin then killed himself near the Peterson Fletcher store. No motive is known but suspected to be linked to a love affair.

Elks Bowled Uniform in Fort Wayne contest

Fort Wayne Printing Company led the Elks in all three games and won the series as the Elks struggled. Local fire department responded to a Clinton street blaze last evening. Councilman Louis Langard injured his right hand in an accident. Photographer Edward Perrey welcomed a new camera after his recent move to Jefferson street. Frank Thatcher was arrested for drunkenness by Patrolman De Rux. A boarding house disturbance led to a lockout. Chief M H Aukenbrud will travel to Grand Rapids to inspect the Gamewell alarm system expansion. Charles Thiame, a telephone operator, broke his leg in a fall at the apartment. An automobile resumed work after a weekend return to duty.
