The United States faces perplexing questions about employment and industrial expansion. War-driven growth, regional shifts from east to west, and plant expansion created a vast demand for thousands of machinists. Government supervision of working conditions and welfare is mentioned as a sufficient response.

Wallington Aug 14 soldiers in France will receive mail from families more reliably. Pershing, Baker, and officers reorganize to supervise mail at debarkation points, establish railroad mail service, classify mail for casuals and detachments, and create central post offices to redirect and forward misaddressed letters.

Miss Gorette Rhoades of this city wed Ollie Green in a Thursday ceremony on August 20 at the bride’s home. Rev J W Saunders officiated with Mrs Samuel Jones playing the wedding march. The bride wore a gold satin gown and carried pink roses. groom in black. A luncheon followed and guests included Mrs Ida Bass, Mrs Sam Jones, Mrs Ford, and many local residents. The record notes church and social events in the community as well as visitors and parties held in honor of others.
Mrs Everet Lamb hosted a Friday afternoon tea for Miss Chapple with many neighbors attending. Other ladies including Mrs Buckner Mrs Hicklestate and Mrs Williams joined the group. Mrs Wicklitt guest hosted a Pleas ure Geekery club meeting with a light lunch. church services at Sumner Chanel church and Art Olive church were announced with rev Saunders officiating.
