Steuben County Surveyor Falls To His Own Death At Fox Lake

Steuben county surveyor Lauren F. Smith of Angola committed suicide by drowning in Fox Lake between ten and eleven in the morning. His body was found an hour later floating in about five feet of water near the shoreline. He had removed his coat hat vest and shoes before entering the water and left a note stating there was nothing for him to live for.
