New city code restricts officers and employes of firms with city franchises from serving in city offices. Purdue Juniors Win Inter Class Track Meeting

In Lafayette Ind on April 22 Purdue University hosted an inter class track meet. The juniors topped with 36 points out of 83, freshmen beat sophomores by one point, seniors failed to score. West ner Congdon and Rutledge led the juniors while Nelson led the sophomores. Final tallies show Class of 08 with 36 points, Class of 07 with 23 points, and Class of 08 with 24 points.

Wreck on Chicago Milwaukee line injures 25

Twenty five people were injured when a car overturned on the Chicago Milwaukee electric line at Greenleaf street and Fourth avenue in Wilmette near Chicago. Charles Franklin of Evanston is expected to die. J Boltwaite and Rev T Frost also severely hurt. Northwestern professors and students returning from Ravinia Park were among the injured. The car derailed after brakes failed and the speed was about twenty miles an hour.

Washington April 22 The Daughters of the American Revolution elected Indiana officers with Mrs James Fowler named state regent and Mrs RK Robertson Fort Wayne state vice regent. In the same session the congress voted not to mortgage Memorial Continental Hall and to continue fundraising for its completion. Treasurer-general Mrs M E S Davis reported 33000 on hand for construction as delegates met at the Ebbitt House to greet new president general Mrs Donald McLean of New York.

President Roosevelt Shifts Camp to Glenwood Springs

President Roosevelt and party moved camp from the east to the west at Camp Roosevelt. They began trekking early, pitching tents on Wet Divide creek near the WHI Gregor ranch about 24 miles from Newcastle and planned to stay into next week.
