Red Cross to House HQ at East Berry in Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne will convert the former Sweetbere store on Hast Berry street into Red Cross headquarters. Miss Johnson from the Chicago Institute for hospital supplies will train fifteen local women to make hospital supplies for a field hospital in one week, enabling 360 women to sew and stitch for hospitals within days.

Ruple family moves to new Schloterback cottage at Nattyerow Beach

Wawasee residents report Chib Ruple relocating his family from Mishawaka to a recently purchased Schloterback cottage at Nattyerow Beach. A bad road near Rickville forced them to unload some belongings and return later. Relatives note Mrs. Emenline Shock of Wilmot and Mishiwatke relations faced her son William Shock’s serious illness upon returning home. Abner Rhoades of Cromwell suffered a severe heart failure. Rudevich Popvenfoase and wife attended the funeral of Mrs. Alvena Sivank in Cromwell. Mrs. Jacob Click learned of her aunt Mrs. Bangher’s death in Leesburg. Schlotterback spent a few days at Nattyerow Beach helping settle the Ruple family. Mrs. Lewis Hire and Vera of Vawter Park visited Wm. Crow’s home.

Judges Named for the District Oratorical Contest Tonight

The twelfth district oratorical contest will be held at Huntington High School tonight at 8 o'clock. One participant from each district will represent the area in the state meet, set for April 29 at Bloomington. Fort Wayne delegates include Shambaugh and Warne, with other contestants from Auburn, Huntington, and Fort Wayne. Howard Shambaugh, the local contestant, won last year’s district contest.
