Citizens question the police leadership as critics label the Police Superintendent incompetent amid ongoing public safety concerns. Officials have deferred comment while promising scrutiny and reform efforts.
In Fort Wayne, Charles Vetter, via attorneys, sues Superintendent Liggett and several officers for $1000 for alleged false imprisonment after an Oct 12 arrest linked to the Dunfee murder case. Vetter claims unlawful arrest, lack of warrant, and coercive pressure during eight days in city custody. The suit argues Liggett overstepped jurisdiction and involved others in his actions.
