A New York anti McKinley delegation led by A B Bax ter D S Alexander and W A Southerland arrived in Indianapolis to pressure Indiana Republicans against McKinley. They hint at a coordinated anti McKinley front with New York votes possibly aiding Harrison if McKinley falters. The Indiana Democratic subcommittee debated efforts to challenge senatorial apportionment and to pursue lawsuits against acts since 1851 with attorneys assessing options.

Death by hanging shocks town in coroner’s inquiry

Coroner Harrod reports Frank Pernot, 45, was found dead by hanging in a barn after his mother discovered the body and cut the rope. Officials say the death may be a despondent act amid suspected mental unsoundness. John Wise pursued as embezzler reportedly fled toward Toledo. A fugitive 18 year old from the reform school is jailed for vagrancy after stealing a watch and money with a loaded revolver. Seventeen Days Without Food Plagues Michigan Woman

Barre Michigan March 6 Mrs Nellie Ingham has not eaten or drunk for seventeen days though fully conscious and in pain. She previously endured a 362 day fast sixteen years ago with no food and only injections for most of that time. At age 50 she has remained in good health since the prior ordeal despite the current relapse.

Avitna Ind March 6 Terrible retribution follows a robbery in which Gideon Houser opened fire while fleeing and a pursuer shot him in the head. Houser remains between life and death in a violent confrontation.

Fisher Gas Mains Tax Ordinance Challenged by Committee

A city council committee on contracts and franchises met to consider Councilman Fisher's proposal taxing natural gas mains. The committee voted unanimously to declare the ordinance illegal and prepared another measure the city attorney says will withstand court scrutiny. The meeting followed four failed attempts to convene in the clerk's office at city hall. The city attorney and Mr. were in attendance.

Gypsy Wife Slain by jealous husband in St Louis lodging house

Andrew Werten a gypsy horse trader murdered his wife Louisa in a third floor room at 918 North Broadway St Louis. He killed with a razor after years of wandering since their elopement ten years ago. Pioneer Preacher Rev John P Lloyd Dies at 82

The state mourns Rev John P Lloyd a pioneer Presbyterian minister aged 82 born in Chillicothe Ohio in 1814. He preached across Ohio from 1839 to 1881 organizing congregations at Otalton and Crestline and served nearly two decades in Crestline before moving to Fort Wayne for health reasons in 1881.

Removal of Koepper Wholesale Liquor Branch to New Fort Wayne Site

The Removal Branch Wholesale Liquor Store of Christian Koepper of Indianapolis moves to 64 East Main Street under August Freese. Freese states the quarters are nicer, they own the building, and will repair the interior to become a leading wholesale liquor house in northern Indiana. The Fort Wayne branch will stock Koepper whiskies and other liquors and solicit retail dealer patronage.
