Indianapolis June 30. John T. Ryman known as the hermit of southern Indiana died last Saturday in a hut on Peter Schnell’s farm near English. He left Schnell all his effects including 3800 in bank notes and 1800 in gold hidden in a coat lining. In a letter he claimed innocence of various crimes and recounted a 1868 murder conviction in Meade county Kentucky, an attempted river journey, and a life as a hermit herb doctor selling medicinal plants to support his earnings. Born in England eighty two years ago.
