Death in Police Cell Linked to Cigarette Smoking

Ernest Shoop a Chicago Street resident about 18 died after being removed from a police cell to Hope hospital. Doctors say his heart and lungs were severely impaired by nicotine poisoning from heavy cigarette use aggravated by drunkenness. An inquest will be held this afternoon.

Trustees spar over church repairs in Sturgis

In Sturgis Michigan on June 22 church trustees chose to repair the aging St John German Lutheran building rather than erect a new one.
