Fifty four miners are buried after a Taylorstown colliery blast in Carpier Wales with rescue efforts ongoing as fires burn in the shafts. Reports later raise entombed numbers to 166 amid limited hope for survivors. crowds of wives and children gather at the pit mouth in grief.
Frederick Beyerlein faced Mayor Oakley after an assault on his father at 34 Jones Street. Police found the elder man cornered by Beyerlein with a club. Beyerlein fined 12 dollars 50 cents and jailed. Witnesses described varying accounts while Arthur Jones sought clemency but received 10 days in jail.

Mrs Betsy Moody of East Northfield died Sunday at 11 30 PM just shy of 91. She left nine children, including Dwight L Moody, and was supported by her husband until his death. Dwight L Moody later funded large school buildings to keep them near his mother.
