Man tries suicide aboard Cloverleaf train in Indiana

Charles H. Anderson, traveling from St. Louis to Buffalo on a Cloverleaf train, drew a razor and cut his throat three times in the chair car. He wore a collar inscribed with To prefer death to dishonor and stripes. Police found $350 and a discharge from the regular army dated Jan 12, 1896. Anderson had served since 1880 with a Chicago enlistment. Doctors expect a good chance of recovery.

Brain Concussion Strikes Local Farmers After Fall

John Parker a farmer living six miles north on the Leo road was badly injured last evening after falling from a load of hay. He was found unconscious and carried home where Dr. J M Dinnen treated a severe brain concussion and a dislocated right wrist amid a dangerous condition. J T Cummings, Indiana Furniture Co employee, fell on High street and dislocated his right shoulder. He was taken home and attended by Dr George C Stemen.
