Humane officer investigates pitiful cruelty case near Bass farm

The humane agent Schlaudroff with Lieut Lapp visited a well known German family a mile west of Bass farm to check alleged cruelty. A pregnant wife and children were found in a deplorable state while the husband rested in an arm chair. Neighbors say she toiled while he abused and hoarded money. Officers warned him to improve or face prosecution.
