Poor Witness James Cunningham Testimony Hurts Defense
James Cunningham’s testimony in his own murder trial drew anger and contradictions, as the state pressed four points about funds from his wife, blood on clothing, and alleged non confession to Detective Rayhouser. The wife testified she gave nothing to her husband and earned money herself, while Cunningham rebutted claims and faced intimidation by officials during questioning at the Fort Wayne hearing. The Berkshire-era notices follow with a furniture store grand opening, Empire Theater lineup, and Eastern Star officers elected for the year, with Christmas confection orders urged.

Republican push for expert audit of treasury in political move
In Washington a faction of House Republicans seeks an expert accountant to audit treasury books. Rep Walker of Massachusetts will sponsor a resolution to require the treasury to disclose claims unpaid before July 1, 1895, judgments, and four years of public-building work. The aim is to bolster claims that Secretary Carlisle delayed appropriations to skew the treasury’s appearance and aid political ends.
