Memorial Services for Garfield Held in Congress

Both houses of Congress scheduled memorial services in Washington for James A. Garfield. Ex Secretary Blaine delivered the oration as dignitaries and officials filled the Capitol in somber mourning with the Marine Band playing between prayers.

A boy named John Gohrar was killed last night at Van Wert after he fell between two cars of a moving Pittsburg train. Authorities investigate the accident and identify the victim.

Despondent Woman Celia Baker Ends Her Life Before Return

The Sentinel reports Celia O Baker, daughter of Isaac Baker of East Lewin street, planned to confront a socialite but died by self harm on the eve of her departure. A Salida Colorado telegram confirms her death and provides no details. She was the divorced wife of Orin S Perry formerly of this city.

Drunkenness Cases and Saloon Altercation Record

Fred Strope arrested for drunkenness jailed 12 days in default of 11.75 dollars. William Shaughnessy paid 11.75 for drunkenness. Frank Jones Daniel Stoutn and Chas Monck argued at Ortlieb s saloon. A later fight led to Monok arrest after stone and brick throwing. Jones fined 11.75, Stouton acquitted. Warrant issued for Monok.
