Milk and Morphine Tragedy Ends in Murder and Suicide

A Georgia farmer, John W. Woods, killed his three children aged 14 10 and 4 by morphine and then shot himself. After years of drunken violence his wife fled, woods procured morphine in Madison, and a neighbor found the bodies. The coroner’s inquest returned verdicts of morphine deaths for the children and a self-inflicted pistol shot for Woods. The family, once respected, lived near this place.
