Lake Shore lines only operate between Elkhart and Toledo due to flood. C W M contracted bridge construction to Smith Bridge Co of Toledo. completion expected April 1.
Cicero Indiana February 15 a dry goods store owned by Johns W Sanders burned at eight this morning fire regarded as arson. Sanders carried insurance totaling about 38 000 shared among Phoenix Hartford Home New York and the Franklin loan likely 6 000.

The La Fourche packet Assumption exploded its donkey boiler while discharging freight, tearing away part of the forward cabin. One man was killed and two were fatally injured. Damage is estimated at $2,000. The cause of the blast remains unknown.
