Philadelphia's mayor calls a public meeting for Jewish refugees arriving from Europe.
The Sentinel reports Sheriff Bremner of Racine county was tried in Milwaukee today for alleged rape of a domestic. verdict found guilty.
Telegraph report from Stanprorp Kentucky dated February 14 states John Carr a respected Black man was shot dead in his house Sunday night while with his child. No clue as to the killer is known.
A dispatch from Alexandria says Yemeni rebels are advancing on Mecca via Soodeah to proclaim the deposition of the Turkish governor and the restoration of the Arabian caliphate.

Kirtland son of a senior member of Kirtland Humphreys Co and a confidential clerk faces forgery charges after allegedly using the firm name to obtain 3500 dollars from St Louis National Bank. He was seized at the union depot with Kate Williams who carried 2900 dollars a gold watch and two Albuquerque tickets.

Evans is daughter of Wm Leeds of Monroeville and currently a waiter at Joseph Cope’s restaurant. A separate case reports Jeff Morse convicted of assault and battery with intent to murder John Maxwell, fined $50 with jail detainer. total costs $6760. Henry Shoaff faces larceny trial for a coat theft from Neil, a telegraph line repairer. W G Colerick states the United States building scheme claims need no committee from here. A boarder at the Robinson dining room mistook a stranger for his wife and tapped her shoulder in irritation asking if she would finish the larder. The woman turned to him in astonishment, revealing the mix up was caused by a misidentified stranger.
In Little Rock on February 14 a violence erupted at Okean station when Asa Batts hotel proprietor was shot through the heart by George James. Batts died instantly. James escaped but is pursued by officers.
A Minola Texas telegraph reports the great storm abating but trains halted on the Texas Pacific eastern division due to washed sways on two bridges. Orders halt all trains except Missouri Pacific at Dallas. Washouts reported on Texas Central at Chamber's Creek cause delays and damage across Texas lines.
Bloomsington Illinois special reports Rev Tobin Brooks editor of Banner of Holiness faces charges of criminal insubordination to Methodist Church authorities and of publishing defamatory statements about the central Illinois conference. An Earlville Illinois dispatch says law student Jas Wyman died by morphine overdose after a rejected love.
Jessie Blood an eighteen year old daughter of T H Blood of St Clair disappeared after retiring ill at night. A note to her father said she was too unhappy to live. Tracks led to the river where she jumped in. Her brother died three years earlier from laudanum overdose.
Lon H. Smith departed yesterday afternoon for Columbus to assume charge of the bar room at Frank McKinnie's Neal house.
Benjamin Saunders appointed guardian of the person and property for Mary A. Saunders, a person of unsound mind. Bond set at $6 000 with Mary E. Whiteley and Robert Stratton as sureties. Up to noon today $86 600 had been collected for the shop site.
Master Mechanic O. R. Morris of the Wabash tendered his resignation to headquarters to take effect March 1. He has held the position for two years and earned an enviable record in railroad circles. The future plans are not disclosed, but warm wishes are extended for his prosperity.
