A telegraph report describes a chain of violent events from a piano factory fire in New York to a bloody shooting at a Clinton Iowa scene. In Syracuse William Tedre fatally shot two women in a house of ill repute and then killed himself over jealousy.
John Moreland's Huntingdon township house burned Saturday night. His wife, step daughter, and three children died in the fire. Two men named Ramboughb and Huff were probably fatally burned.
The C F Deihlmann and Co piano case factory on West Twenty first street burned Saturday night. Losses are put at 100000 for stock 30000 for the building and insurance not to exceed 40000. Fireman David Stradenzer was fatally injured by falling walls.
During the first act of Barry and Fay's Mull Doon’s Picnic at Comstock's Opera House in Columbus a robber pistol whipped the treasurer from the box office window and escaped with about $100 as the house remained full.
A. M. Soteldo died at 10 15 PM Saturday after being shot in the melee at The National Republican office Thursday evening. Clarence Barton editor of The Republican is improving after an attack by the Soteldo brothers. Details remain unclear pending trial of the younger Soteldo in jail.
A rock weighing over a ton slid down an embankment on the Wilmington and Northern Railroad near Birdsboro, threatening a passenger train. A farmer saw the danger and sprinted through deep snow to warn the train, and passengers helped trainmen clear the track and gave thanks.

Great excitement follows grand jury testimony about John N. Brown, a prosperous farmer, found dead in the river weighted with stones. The report alleges Brown was murdered in Carrie Bradley s bagnio, naming a suspect connected to the case.
Two inmates of Bradley's house testified that a woman attacked a keeper as revenge for causing her arrest on a charge of keeping a house of ill repute. The assailant and accomplice are believed en route to San Francisco aboard the steamer Idaho.
New York February 18 It is reported that Clara Louise Kellogg and her Philadelphia broker fiancé delay their marriage by four or five weeks beyond March as she wishes to extend the profitable concert tour. She plans to sing two to three weeks more in the east before resuming the western circuit.
Luke Ransom, longtime D. M. Osborne employee and Chicago office manager, was found dead Saturday morning in Hinsdale suburbs. A two chamber revolver lay near him, a pistol wound to the head with brain exposure, signs of a struggle, and his clothes rifled. No murderer traced. he leaves a family in moderate circumstances.
John Kratzer once of Fort Wayne and later a Wabash special officer was jailed in Minnesota for assault and battery and sent to Stillwater penitentiary for two years and eight months. Sheriff Richter notes Kratzer’s capture followed a requisition after his Nebraska escape and Burlgar robbery links.
Milton O Johnson vs Stuffman et al settled and dismissed by agreement for 250 dollars. F Fishback vs Trent awarded judgment to plaintiff on 150 dollars. Rosey A Morris vs Dawson note for 300 dollars with judgment for 228 dollars. Isaac Lauferty vs Noll et al note 200 dollars with judgment for plaintiff.
The Fort Wayne Land League held a meeting yesterday afternoon electing officers. President J. H. Rowan. First Vice President Ed Murphy. Second Vice President Terence Martin. Recording Secretary Hugh Hogan. Financial Secretary Dr. W. P. Whery. Treasurer James Woulfe. Also announced English Lutheran church social tomorrow evening at 141 West Wayne Street, the Morganthalers residence.

The Lima dispatch confirms a January 25 treaty of peace between Bolivia and Peru. By terms Bolivia is left without a gear board.
A Jewish family of four including a mother, a seventeen year old daughter, and a fourteen year old son were reportedly massacred by peasants in the Ananieff district near St. Petersburg on February 18.
A Pueblo police confrontation left Policeman J T Comers wounded by city Marshal Desmond in an early morning dispute. The officer was hurt but not in serious condition.
John Shanks, sixty, a wealthy farmer near Crab Orchard, Ky, was found murdered in his barn by a servant. A shotgun was the murder weapon and robbery is suspected though no clue to the killer is known.
A Westport dispatch reports two steamers towing an unknown wreck south toward San Francisco. The revenue cutter Richard Russ and steamer Gipsy departed yesterday for the scene and are believed to be bringing the wreck to port. It is thought to be one of the steam cutters running from San Francisco to Puget Sound.
Robert P. Hunter, a colored man on a spree, forced entry at Fred Wright's store in Ferne Ridge, threatened violence with a revolver, Wright fired, hitting Hunter in the head. Hunter staggered a few steps then died. The shooting is deemed justifiable.
Excitement grips Montreal as cemetery vaults are raided by medical students for anatomy study. Two bodies were stolen from St. Augustin and four from St. Vincent de Paul cemeteries this week. Police pursue leads with no recoveries yet. Reports say bodies are being sent to medical colleges in Boston Philadelphia New York and western cities.
The body of William Johnson was discovered today about six miles from Cincinnati near Oakley station on the Marietta and Cincinnati railway. The upper portion of his head was shot away and all circumstances point to murder rather than suicide, but no clue has been obtained.
