Orient railroad gains life with new revenue ruling
Kansas City February 27 The Orient railroad can hold its own says Clifford Histed head of a Kansas City group reorganizing the road after the Interstate Commerce Commission decision increasing freight revenue. The plan includes 14 million dollars in new money with 2.4 million underwritten locally and 1 million from the government. The ruling raises revenues 300 000 to 400 000 annually and positions Orient to meet operating burdens while pursuing long term reorganization and potential expansion toward Chihuahua Mexico.

Auto accident kills little Jewell Gowen
A 4 year old girl Jewell Gowen is fatally injured when a Ford truck hits a bump near the Mexican school house. Witnesses rush to aid as family friends attempt to save her but she dies at home. Funeral services are held at the First Christian Church with Eld. S R McClure presiding.
