Donna Sue Church and Margaret Ellen Lannom finished first and second at the McCamey beauty revue closing Win McCamey's 30th anniversary. Church, daughter of Virgil Church, had won teen division in Fort Stockton two weeks earlier. Lannom, daughter of Roy Lannom, had held Miss Fort Stockton and Queen of the Water Carnival titles. Fort Stockton residents attended the two night event, which featured two water ballet numbers from the 1955 Fort Stockton Water Carnival.

Pay Phone Rate Hike Is Asked by Southwestern Bell
Southwestern Bell asked Fort Stockton City Council to raise local pay phone calls to 10 cents and to adjust base zone charges for exchange service with mileage billed on private lines. Showers Visit Stockton Area
Scattered local showers hit parts of the Fort Stockton area this week with unsettled weather persisting. A heavy shower fell south west of Fort Stockton near the Santa Fe Railway and irrigation areas while Veena and eastern points reported good rains. A 104 degree high was set Saturday, with cooler days of 95 on Monday and Tuesday. Mrs. H. C. Archer and Miss June Archer watched filming of the movie Giant near Marfa.

The Pecos County Civil Defense Director, Judge Paul Counts, named observer post supervisors for the Ground Observer Corps. Supervisors include Charlie Boyles Fort Stockton Bobby Nixon Traan Jack Cauthen Sheffield Ralph Fogleman Imperial Arno Helmers Girvin Bill Ed McKenzie Bakersfield and Gerald Porter Sanderson Fort Stockton ranch area.
