Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo Opens at Pecos Coliseum

The sixth annual Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo at Pecos County Coliseum starts tonight as AJRA participants from three age groups compete for top prizes. Two hand-stamped saddles will honor outstanding cowboy and cowgirl, with trophy buckles for leading performers. Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. with Friday and Saturday shows to follow.

Pecos County State Bank will pay 28,125 dollars as a 25 cent per share dividend on its 112,500 shares on July 3. The payout follows a stock dividend raising ownership to four shares per three held and marks the bank’s 50th anniversary open house on July 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Jaycees plan July Fourth fireworks at Rooney Park

Jailed without bond for capital murder in Pecos case

Ruben O Hernandez and Ramon Matta Jr were charged with two counts of capital murder in Pecos County Justice Court and ordered held without bond. An associated 16 year old girl and a fourth suspect Sophia Banda were noted. Banda remains sought with a federal fugitive warrant. Victims were Felix Rodriguez and Guadalupe Jiminez, shot with a .22 and found near US 285 two miles northwest of Fort Stockton. Three burglary suspects were also set with $2,500 bonds.
