Mr and Mrs A L VanDeren and Mr and Mrs Jim Van Der en of Balmorhea spent a short visit in Fort Stockton on Monday returning from Mineral Wells where VanDeren helped place Balmorhea and Fort Stockton on the state highway map. On the trip Pauline Dobson joined at Winchie then Dan Cupid’s darts struck as Miss Dobson and Mr Jim VanDeren quietly wed. The newlyweds will live in Balmorhea amid hearty congratulations from friends.

Local Red Cross Filling Comfort Bags by Thursday
The American Red Cross met Thursday to hem hospital napkins and prepare comfort bags. Fifty bags were funded, cut, and distributed for filling with items like handkerchiefs pins threads needles and safety pins. Leon Valley Rabbit Drive Ends With Many Rabbits Killed
About twenty five men armed with shotguns lined a field in Leon Valley to shoot jack rabbits harming cotton. The crowd, mixing Mexican laborers, advanced in a line about 1.5 miles long. Several hundred rabbits fell as the shooters compared trophies and shared cake and lemonade at Mills farm. H C Petty won the premium for the most rabbits.

Two Injured In Hamlin County Auto Crash
Last Friday night J. D. Vogel and Philip Blanck were returning from an auto trip when their car on the 70 road near Hamlin struck a concrete culvert. The accident left Blanck unhurt except for a severe shaking, while Vogel suffered several gashes on his forehead and nose after the windshield was broken.
