A follow up meeting at the Pecos County Museum Library gathered to submit circulated petitions for organizing a soil conservation district. The Agricultural Committee of the Pecos County Chamber of Commerce sent the petitions to the Texas State Soil Conservation Board in Temple. A public hearing is sought in the first week of August to discuss need and interest.

Jesus Moreno 82 Long Time City Employee Dies
Jesus Moreno, 82, longtime City of Fort Stockton employee and street cleaner for 18 years, died Saturday at his home. He is survived by three daughters and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday at St Joseph Church with burial in Catholic Cemetery. Owen Funeral Home arranged arrangements.
