Leonard Bacon Jr aged 36 died Monday after his auto struck a culvert abutment on Highway 290 about 46 miles east of Fort Stockton. The single occupant was thrown clear and died minutes later from severe head injuries. He had survived a prior accident on the Alpine road last week. funeral services were held in San Angelo and Fort Stockton Lodge members served as guard.

A theft at Ellis Grocery occurred Friday afternoon during the Water Carnival Parade between 3 and 3 30 pm. About $324 disappeared from the office cash drawer while staff watched the parade. Sheriff Dan B Bid investigated. three unknown men were suspected, with similar descriptions seen at nearby stores. Groundless reports of other money thefts were noted.

Cars Collide In Saturday Morning Highway Crash

Mrs. Mary Anderson a Texas resident for nearly seven decades and widow of a Confederate veteran died Sunday in El Paso and was buried there the next day She was a Fort Stockton native and great aunt to W R Arthur and Alph Harral.
