Fort Stockton Schools Plan Summer Renovations and Staffing
Fort Stockton public schools will start a summer renovation program including bus route contracts, an extra English ward teacher, and transfer of Garland Casebier. Miss Sue Blackwell Shannon will teach second grade after completing a Master’s, and new safety features plus a walk connecting the band hall to the high school auditorium will be added. Winfield for Senator Club Formed Here
A Fort Stockton meeting of business and professional men organized a Winfield for Senator club to back H. L. Winfield for Texas Senate in the 29th district. Twenty three charter members joined as Dr. E. A. Robertson became president with Karl But treasurer and George Baker secretary. Funds were raised to print 5000 windshield stickers and distribute them across the district. A publicity plan for newspapers statewide was created and a committee of R. D. Blaydes A. Warren Dunn and H. H. Butz was set to draft district newspaper resolutions for a future report.

R W Neill of Odessa captured the championship flight in the Spring City Golf Club tournament held with the Fort Stockton Water Carnival. He defeated Hayward Shull of Alpine, the runner up. Seventy two entrants made the event the club's best. Oza Wright won the first flight with David Coleman second.

First Editor of Pioneer Dies After Accident
Jesse McKee a 53 year old publisher of the Ward County News at Barstow and first editor of the Fort Stockton Pioneer at its 1909 founding died in a Pecos hospital from injuries after his car left a culvert. He worked in Seguin starting at age 11 and had 41 years in newspapers including Ozona Sanderson Alpine and Barstow. Funeral was held Monday in Pecos before burial in the West.

Cloudburst Drains Pecos County Roads and Power Lines
Heavy rains moved across Pecos County Monday night and Tuesday morning, with three inch totals at the C T Lake ranch northwest of Fort Stockton and widespread rainfall north and west of the city. A power line between Pecos and Balmorhea was blown down stopping service to Fort Stockton and other towns, while a flooded dip delayed traffic between Fort Stockton and Balmorhea. No rain reached Fort Stockton itself.

Water Carnival Draws Visitations Across West Texas

Big Savings on Tax If Paid This Month
Taxpayers can secure significant savings by paying before month end. Second half payments on state, county and school taxes without penalty are due now. July 1 adds 8 percent plus 1 percent monthly interest. Delinquent 1935 taxes face same penalty and interest from July 1, while current penalty is 5 percent. City of Fort Stockton delinquent taxes from 1934 and earlier may be paid this month without penalty. Old penalties resume July 1.

Moving Pictures At Frontier Exposition Fort Worth
A. L. Osborne of Abilene shot moving pictures for the West Texas Chamber exhibit at the Frontier Exposition in Fort Worth starting July 1. McCamey and San Angelo athletes placed in junior and small girl divisions with Diane Berryman winning the junior group. More than two thousand spectators crowded the Comanche Spring pool for bathing reviews and contests. Cooper Reopens Central Cafe in Hotel Building
Jimmie Cooper oversees the reopening and remodeling of the Central Cafe in the Central Hotel building. The cafe has been cleaned and redecorated and an adjoining space will serve as a dance floor for large crowds. Cooper, formerly at the Rio Grande Bar since last August, opened the cafe Wednesday.
