Judge Resley Named Muzzle Loader of the Year at Brady Meet
Fort Stockton’s H.E. Judge Resley, 81, retired municipal court judge and renowned muzzle loader, won Muzzle Loader of the Year and first place at 50 and 100 yards with a rest. A charter member of the Texas Muzzle Loader Rifle Association, he also was named outstanding Muzzle Loader over 60. He builds and finishes his rifles in a garage shop, dedicating 190 hours per piece, with a career dating to pre-World War I days and service under General Pershing.

Yates Field Operators Seek Higher MER Rate

Neff Becomes Fort Stockton City Manager
Mark Neff, 27, took over as Fort Stockton city manager on Monday June 12 after being chosen in mid May to succeed Jim Davis. A Spearman former city manager, Neff oversaw budget overhaul, tax reappraisal, gas distribution rebuild and three new water wells. He is a 1974 West Texas State University graduate with a business administration degree. He plans to settle in and meet department heads while pursuing projects like a garbage incinerator renovation and sewer system fixes, plus renovation of the old First School House Building.

Camp Sol Mayer Scout Pool Dedicated in Fort McKavitt
Dedication ceremonies unveiled a new Olympic sized pool at Boy Scout Camp Sol Mayer in Fort McKavitt built in memory of Jim Robbins a Fort Stockton rancher who died of Hodgkin's disease in 1975. Donors included J. Lloyd Patton of Fort Worth and Robbins' parents.

New Fuel Service Center To Open In Dickinson Area
Fuel Service Center a Holstein Tire Co. unit and Firestone dealer will hold a grand opening Friday and Saturday from 6 a.m. to midnight with a 2:30 p.m. Friday ribbon cutting by the Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors. The self service facility will employ four staffers for oil and tire work, handle Texaco products and Firestone tires, and expand Holstein’s payroll to 16 with the main store totaling 12.
