The Coyanosa community in northwestern Pecos County shows growth with a chartered Lions Club ten days old and a proposed post office to serve residents. Robert E. Brown, a local theatre owner, is recommended for postmaster as a fund drive begins for a Community Baptist Church. Kerrville Bus Co will study daily service between Fort Stockton and Pecos, REA lines are due soon, and Fort Stockton Chamber aids telephone efforts.
The Fort Stockton Jaycees plan a 5:30 Sunday barbecue to welcome newcomers since January. Free for all new Fort Stockton families with a nominal charge for others, held at Rooney Park.

He attacked Price Daniel and pledged tax reform, old age pensions, veterans bonuses, and segregation policies while recalling his prior Texas governorship.

Entries for the Parade of Queens are invited by committee chair H F Gilley for the final day of the 1956 Water Carnival. Prizes include 50 for first 25 for second 15 for third in local business groups and 5 for outstanding individual and best decorated bicycle. The parade starts 4:20 PM Saturday June 23 featuring Miss Southwest bathing revue contestants. The event hallmarks an Indian theme Pow wow on Comanche with three nights of shows at Comanche Springs Pool June 21 to 23.
Fort Stockton news reports El Rancho Motel changed hands to San Antonio residents Mr. and Mrs. Joe Raphaeli who sold to Mr. and Mrs. Garrett Kneisley. The transfer marks the second major Fort Stockton business property sale in weeks as Kneisley takes over operations.
Fort Stockton Historical Society and the Star-Maker shows raised about 800 through ticket sales and shingles contributions. KOSA-TV directed contestants from Odessa and local sponsor updates came from Bill McCormack. No winners were announced locally, and a June 17 live broadcast was planned with invited contestants.
Fort Stockton attorney Maurice R. Bullock president of the State Bar of Texas received honorary membership in the Order of the Coif at the University of Texas Law School graduation in Austin.
