First Week Brings 130 Kids to Summer Recreation Program
The Summer Recreation Program sponsored by the school and city saw about 130 boys and girls participate in its first week. Swim classes drew 48 entries under Ben Harris and Fred McMann with 33 beginners and 15 in the intermediate group. A second beginner class starts June 14. Activities include softball, dancing, ping pong, and shuffleboard with 50 to 60 youths nightly at the Canteen. A junior and senior lifesaving course begins Monday at Comanche Spring.

Burdine Breaks Foot In Car Cycle Crash

Fifteen Miles of Sanderson Road To Be Let This Summer
A. W. Pope resident engineer for the Highway Department at Sanderson says about fifteen miles of Highway 285 will be paved this summer. The project could be approved at the July Highway Department meeting, beginning at the county line eleven miles north of Sanderson and continuing fourteen to fifteen miles, with straightening in places. The Terrell County end may be let in the fall. The road has been rough and full of holes due to a prolonged dry period making blading ineffective.
