Prison Break Leads: Good Ross and Partners Escape Texas Penitentiary

Four long term inmates led by Milt Good and Tom Ross escaped from the Texas State penitentiary near Huntsville after a guard was struck with a gun. Clarence Whalen and George Arlington joined the break, fleeing west with a woman suspected of smuggling the pistol. Bloodhounds could not track the car as officials suspect a pre planned escape.

Wool Company Sells Entire Fall Wool Stock in Kerrville

Lehriner Wool Company announces sale of its entire fall wool stock at Kerrville. Sealed bid sale held last Tuesday. purchaser is D. D. Stokes for Winslow and Company of Boston. Prices ranged from 35 to 42 1/2 cents per pound, total about 50,000 pounds.

Pecos County Oil Activity Resume Updates Drilling

Adams Oil Company work continues on Devlin No 2 and Gray No 1 wells with drilling advances around 600 feet and setting depth near 658 inches. Dixie Oil and Transcontinental Oil report activity around 600 feet and 1750 feet respectively as contractors wrap up and wait for new operations. Western Development No 1 underwent a nitro glycerine shot at 1071 feet, bridged, and awaits sand-line arrival while Bob Kircheval leads Adams Oil drilling efforts and plans further locations.

The Fort Stockton town football team lost 26-0 on Sunday at Marfa Court to Marfa 1st Cavalry. Marfa secured the shutout as Fort Stockton exited without scoring.

Clean Town drive urged by Satterwhite and Lincecum

Fort Stockton residents urged a city wide cleanup to improve living conditions and attract newcomers. Lee declines seat on State Highway Commission

R. Q. Lee, president of the West Texas Chamber of Commerce, announced he cannot accept an appointment to the State Highway Commission. He cited obligations to the chamber and to the stockholders of the C. N. E. Railway, and asked the governor to provide West Texas representation on the board.

Moody Refuses Road Payments to Subcontractors

Attorney General Dan Moody refused to permit Hoffman Construction to pay two subcontractors. Dexter of Dallas is owed 40 908 07 and McCollom of Fort Worth 27 848 68, totaling 68 756 75 for state highway work. A temporary restraining order blocks funds except for current expenses until December 16. The state seeks 100 000 damages for excess highway profits and other claims in a broader suit.

Well Known Dog Injured by Ford Car

Jack a nine year old dog owned by A N Lea wears a plaster cast on his left forefoot and left hind leg after being struck by a Ford driven by C E Menzie on Thursday evening. The crash was described as unavoidable, a choice between hitting the dog or another vehicle.
