A sprawling, unreadable OCR page mixes names, places, and events with stray phrases about elders, papers, and a chaotic scene. Amid garbled text, recurring motifs include families, courts, and community life, hinting at a social upheaval or upheaved cities with scattered mentions of Temple, Cleveland, and local leaders.
A large public sale is ordered by the Fort Smith city council and a school board committee. It covers about 1490 acres of property once held in tract form with restrictions and a plan to use proceeds for school funds. The sale runs for five weeks starting May 20, with bids from residents and outsiders.
A disjointed local dispatch describes a colored militia company being hanged at Fetona for murder, with scattered accounts of injuries, trials, and various arrests across multiple counties. The piece names Capt. Macauley, Derutieratic paste, and mentions Washington County and Fortin. The text mixes crime summaries, court actions, and political notes in a dense, era-typical local newspaper style.
