Fred Beggs Volunteers Boost Morale at Veterans Hospitals
Freddy Beggs of Public Service Electric leads 12,000 workers in a four year effort to brighten patient lives at veterans hospitals. He collected 2,900 mirrors and arranged gifts, then expanded to include candy, toys, and a Sunday entertainment program with 21 volunteer acts from the company. The initiative spread to multiple hospitals including Hellotan Halloran and Staten Island facilities, supported by Red Cross collaboration, with performances bringing cheer to injured veterans.
