Major H H Frothingham, commander, personally inspected every ward and sleeping room at the post to ensure troops have proper covering and warmth at night. The gesture shows a conscientious, broad minded officer carrying on from Col. Cooper to watch for enlisted men’s welfare.

Bodies of the first three will be sent home Montanaro may be buried locally.
Major William S. Sharpe, adjutant at this station, was promoted from captain Tuesday. He arrived at Fort Des Moines from Camp Dodge at the request of Lt. Col. A. T. Cooper, former commanding officer, now in Detroit. Sharpe is a veteran of the Spanish American War in the Philippines.

Lieutenant Robert Peterson of the 5th Cavalry United States Army is ordered to report to the Commanding Officer of United States General Hospital No. 36 in Detroit. He will assist Lieutenant Colonel A T Cooper in establishing Ford Memorial Hospital, with documents calling for his transfer dated yesterday. Peterson expects to depart early next week.
Sergt Sam Wheeler, who left last week with a detachment to Camp Dodge Base Hospital Unit, may not accompany the unit overseas after receiving word of his sister’s death in Arkansas. He rushed home for funeral services and hopes to rejoin the unit, which was slated to depart yesterday.
