Nurses Defy Post Night Orders At Des Moines Post
In Des Moines in July 1918 nurses confronted entry rules that barred them after 7:30 PM without escorts. A guard refused leniency, fears of bayonet danger and quiet mutterings followed. Despite tension the nurses slipped into the post and slept on white beds, as officers logged the incident and noted a large hole in the wire fence.

The American Library Association has installed a library at Ward No. Twelve for the Book Worms and others. Miss Grace Shellenberger is librarian with Pst Hodlen RB Johnson assisting. The collection includes several thousand volumes across fiction, World War histories, technical texts, foreign languages, and a large wartime section. A friend recalls Mose Swartz known as the Past Ad Chaser describing his route to his bunk after P M. He says after entering the East deck he walks to the rear wall bumps his nose on the stove in the corridor performs a left face, trips over his bunkies shoes and finally arrives at his bunk.
