Dole Branch Reopens as Oak Park Tenants on the Rise
One year after a threatened closing, the Dole Branch at 225 Augusta St has reopened under village ownership. Book circulation is up 14.3 percent in early 1977, with more cultural programs and renovations funded by federal funds. The Friends of Dole organize events, gloves, and a future Dole Day as volunteers improve the 40 year old building designed by Tallmadge and Watson.
