Young Patriot Mark Ross Proposes Forest Park Bicentennial Ideas
Thirteen year old Mark Ross addressed the Forest Park Bicentennial commission on April 24 presenting 30 ideas for the celebration. He is the commission's youngest member and serves on the Communications committee. His proposals include cleaning the Des Plaines River and more community projects.

Free CPR classes offered by Forest Park Fire Dept
Firefighter Shayne Ryerson leads free cardiopulmonary resuscitation training with the Forest Park Fire Department and West Cook County Heart Association this May and June. Registration is at the fire station or by phone. Classes run three Wednesdays 6:45 to 9:30 at St Bernadine's School.

Proviso East Students Excel In German Contest Banquet Hope
Forest Park students Kris Woessner Monika Kukuk and Rainer Gedell placed high in the American Association of Teachers of German language contest. Eleven East High students scored in the 80th percentile or above. top scorers may qualify for a study trip to Germany. Broadview’s Robert Bing also qualifies for the award. A May luncheon will present 90th percentile or higher award certificates or books.

Proviso township offers summer courses and gymnastics programs
Proviso Township High schools open registration for summer classes and sports. Academic courses run June 23 to August 1 at Proviso East West Hillside facilities with a $3 non refundable fee and district tuition of 28 per course. In person registration June 16 18 at Proviso West library. A summer gymnastics program for girls grades 3 through 12 runs June 23 to August with 24 tuition for 29 sessions and 18 for a second family member.

Oak Park moves forward on perimeter road upgrades around the Oak Park Village mall. Crews replace temporary parking with permanent facilities on North Blvd between Forest Ave and Marion St, adding a 62 car lot with Marion St access and exits to Marion and North Blvd. Traffic signals and medians will be installed at multiple intersections to improve flow and safety.

The Friends of the Forest Park Library will hold a public meeting on Thursday May 15 at 8 p.m. in the library at 7555 Jackson. Dr John Gow Elmhurst College associate professor of speech will speak on All the Worlds a Stage role playing in daily life.
