Appointment stalled in Forest Park council vacancy case

A court hearing on whether Forest Park must appoint a fifth village commissioner or hold a special election was postponed to January 27. The vacancy arose after Santo Rizzo left for mayor following Mayor Mohr’s death, with plaintiffs arguing a mandatory election while defendants contend the council may act.

Council deadlock on filling vacancy over term to 1979

Forest Park Council hears two bids for postal site mall

At the Forest Park Village Council meeting two development firms, Draper and Kramer and First American Realty, submitted plans to convert the bulk mail site into a shopping mall anchored by major stores. Both bids were held for later review as the council awaits mayoral return on December 21.

Forest Park Council to appoint one new police officer

The Police and Fire Commission urged the Village Council on December 12 to appoint two officers to cover a personnel shortage caused by illness resignations and an impending disability pension.
