Oak Park welcomes runners on Liberty Torch Relay
A 50 state Liberty Torch relay begins at the Statue of Liberty and will end in 47 days at the White House. Runners aged 22 to 36 travel about 200 miles daily, relay five to ten miles every 24 hours, and collect soil for a Liberty tree planting in Washington D.C. Oak Park hosts a welcome ceremony led by Redd Griffin of the Oak Park River Forest Bicentennial Commission.
