In a park board election Tuesday incumbent Anthony DiFoggio lost his seat as Ronald Milchhoefer and Andrew Collis won seats. Milchhoefer led with 892 votes and Collis had 830, while Lorentz Kaercher trailed with 823. A total of 2023 ballots were cast, the park district record since 1963. A special meeting was held to canvass the votes, with canvassing due within five days. Milchhoefer and Collis will take office at the April 10 meeting.

CTA derailment delays commuters near Lake Forest Park
One man was injured when two elevated trains collided near the Lake Harlem L terminal in Forest Park. Motorman Charles Carver, 28, apparently failed to stop at a crossover, causing a derailment involving eight cars on each train. Carver was hospitalized in good condition and suspended pending investigation. 48 of 80 rush hour cars were diverted to cover the outage.

Proviso Township votes final road and bridges budget
The board approved a $65,385 road budget for re paving Hawthorne avenue in Westdale Gardens. John O’Brien leads roads and bridges earning $1,800 yearly. the post will be abolished when his 1977 term ends as Cook County likely takes over Westdale Gardens duties.
