Superintendent Bob Pruitt reports minimum room requirements for reopening parkside area schools while Field-Stevenson undergoes renovations. Enrollment across junior high Grant White Garfield Betsy Ross and Stevenson totals 904 as of September 1955. Construction at Garfield is set for completion by September 1957 with a new multi purpose room. Betsy Ross and Grant White modernization planned next summer. Sevenths and eighth graders remain in Field Stevenson during work.

Volunteers labor to raise a block and stone clubhouse for VFW Memorial Post 7181 in Forest Park on Desplaines avenue across from the U S post office. The building will serve post and auxiliary with a dance hall stage two cloak rooms lounge and future dining space and restrooms. Rick and Ralph Weber chair the committee as 240 members from Forest Park area join weekend work with plans to move in for a November turkey raffle.

Edward Hankel of 116 Rockford reported being robbed at 2 a.m. Sunday in the Northwestern railroad yards by two men ages 20 to 25 and a blonde woman with a fair complexion. They took $5. Hankel notified Forest Park police.

Car Theft Recovery Report in Chicago
Walter Genschow reported his 1949 Plymouth sedan stolen from 167 Brown overnight. Police recovered the car on September 12 before a local report, arresting Harry Nichols of 7541 Randolph and returning him to the Chicago State Hospital.

Three Hurt in Elgin and Washington Collision
A noon crash near Elgin and Washington injures three, one seriously, when a northbound car fails to stop at a stop sign and is struck by a westbound vehicle. The impact sends the northbound car into a street, ejects the driver, and the vehicle careens down Elgin Avenue, striking two more cars before stopping against a tree.
