Forest Lions Club members from Forest Park and River Forest plan a landmark year including Chicago’s Golden Anniversary events and a 1967 July parade with 20 000 clubs from 138 nations. They also sponsor a peace essay contest worth 25000 and a Candy Day drive to aid the blind, with volunteer needs and contact numbers.

Lutheran Choir of Chicago Begins 20th Year Rehearsals

The Lutheran Choir of Chicago led by Theodore Klinka starts its 20th year serving Chicagoland. Auditions for new members are Monday evenings from 7 to 8 at St. John's Lutheran School 905 Circle Forest Park, with rehearsals 8 to 10. No appointment needed.

John Tobin Named Forest Park Police Chief

John Tobin, a 45 year old Forest Park veteran with 20 years on the force and a prior stint as Lieutenant since 1963, was appointed Chief by council on Monday. Mayor Howard Moher praised Tobin and the department, while two new lieutenants and sergeants Robert Zimm erman and Lew Good are in line for promotion.

Fish stocked pool to reopen as fishing site

Kenneth Stange president of the Park Board says the swimming pool will be stocked with trout for a fall recreation program. Only local residents can fish, and the project will be self supporting with fees set later.

Asthmatic Program At Oak Park YMCA Opens Enrollment

The Oak Park YMCA runs an October to May asthma program for children 6 to 14 with persistent or non seasonal asthma. Sessions, held Saturdays, focus on breathing exercises and non competitive fitness under physician recommendation. A $20 annual youth membership is required. An information session is scheduled for Sept 24 from 1 to 2 p.m.
