Forest Park awards 25 Red Cross water safety certificates
Twenty five village boys and girls earned American Red Cross water safety certificates and pins in the renorn-to swim program at Forest Park pool this summer. The program run in 100 Chicagoland pools was sponsored by the Red Cross and the Chicago and Suburban Park districts.

Former Forest Park resident William G. Meyer dies
William G. Meyer, longtime Forest Park resident, died August 26 at Gages Lake. Funeral Aug. 29 at Zimmerman's chapel followed by burial in Woodlawn. He lived at 617 Circle for 31 years, later wintering in St. Petersburg, Fla. Survived by Emma and three children Carl T William G Jr and Edna seven grandchildren. He was a retired Chicago post office employee and member of several Masonic and civic groups.

Local Children Win Big in Des Plaines Fishing Rodeo
The second annual Fishing Rodeo near Des Plaines river drew 200 children on August 27 from 7 a.m. to noon with several hundred spectators. Prizes for top catch, longest fish, and most variety included a full fishing equipment set worth over $25. A casting exhibition by the Oak Park Sportsman's Club followed.
