Eagles Hall Fire in Madison Street Building Contained
Firefighters saved Eagles Hall at 7511 Madison Street after a 2:53 a.m. blaze on the third floor. Heavy smoke required gas masks and four firemen were briefly overcome. Damage held to about 7000 dollars as Lt Del Marousek cited a discarded cigarette starter and proper ventilation limited the spread. George C Olsen praised the department for preventing a far larger loss.

Council approves dry cleaning site and factory plans in village
The council approved a coin operated dry cleaning business at 7610 Madison and a ballpoint pen assembly factory at 930 Desplaines. A drive in restaurant at 1129 S Harlem was approved subject to Health Department and a CTA night stand request at Jackson and Desplaines was denied to keep the intersection vehicle free. Mayor Meyer noted dairy deliveries and maintenance of quality in Forest Park.

A total of $774,486 was collected here last May during the Bell Ringer event to support mental health programs and services.

New Home for Reich & Becker

VFW Honors Youth Friday Event Aids Local Youth

Presbyterian Dedication Sunday at First Presbyterian Church
