Drechsler Rites Held for Longtime Forest Park Officer
Funeral services were held Saturday for Carl E. Drechsler, former Forest Park police sergeant who died October 5 at Gattleb Memorial Hospital at age 61. A 21 year department veteran, he joined in 1945, became sergeant in 1949, and retired in 1966. He chaired the Tri-County Division of the Illinois Police Association in the late 50s and early 60s and was an associate member of Forest Park VFW Post 4181. He later worked as security officer for Oak Park Trust and Savings Bank. He is survived by his wife Alice, daughter Darlene Weingand, and two grandchildren.

The Forest Park Library will close on Thursday October 14 for painting. The children's room will get orange brown carpeting to reduce noise and improve atmosphere. A tropical fish aquarium will be added later in fall with a twenty gallon tank, live plants, and popular tropical fish.

Public Health Official Announces Friday Evening Open Office
