Original Troost Monument Co. of Forest Park filed a 40000 libel suit in Superior Court against Reuben H Donnelly Corp. over alleged defamatory advertising in The Red Book June 1949 issue. Plaintiffs claim Troost Monument Co. was misnamed as Troost Peter Monument Co. in a later edition.

Mrs Welborn S Dimmett of 1412 Elgin is named chairman of the Forest Park drive for the 43rd annual Christmas Seal fundraiser to combat tuberculosis. The nationwide campaign begins November 1.
Frank Pfannes caretaker of 7221 Madison retired after 21 years serving building tenants. Tenants held a surprise dinner at Nabors Corner restaurant and presented a Parker 41 pen set as a keepsake. Pfannes also retired in May from 7801 Adams after 25 years.
