The Garfield Parent Teachers Association will hold a bake sale at Reich and Becker Agency 7421 Madison Forest Park on Saturday October 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sale features homemade pies cakes cookies coffee cakes baked beans and potato salad. Boy Scouts Raise 450 Via Two Forest Park Paper Drives
Forest Park Boy Scouts collected 450 from two scrap paper drives held September 16 covering the north side and September 23 covering the south. Half the funds plan to create a test ground for camping and scout activities, the rest goes to local troop treasuries to advance scouting programs. Walter Blasius chaired the troop committee. Fred Rose was treasurer, James Harmon secretary, Art Kistenbroker district committeeman. Troop leaders listed for 102 103 105 106 and 108 with respective leaders.

Last Rites Held for Anthony L. Scolaro Prominent Merchant
Funeral services for Anthony L. Scolaro a Forest Park merchant were held Saturday at Zimmerman's chapel and St Luke's church River Forest. He died Sept 27 at Oak Park hospital aged 47 after a brief illness. Born Oct 5 1903 in Chicago he married Mary Serio in Maywood Oct 31 1926. He and his wife ran a fruit store in Maywood before moving to Forest Park 21 years ago to start a grocery at 7413 Madison later moving to 7412 Madison for Scolaro's IGA. Survived by wife Mary children August 23 Joseph 14 Mary Jane 9 Antoinette 6 granddaughter Mary Ann and sisters Rose Pusateri Ann Calderone Minnie Di Cola. Preceded by brothers Dominica Serio and August Scolato.

Man Suffers Injuries From Fall On Beloit Street
John Miller of 915 Lathrop received bruises and cuts on his elbow above an eye and the back of his head when he tripped and fell on the sidewalk in front of 428 Beloit on October 2. He was taken to Oak Park hospital.

Post 414 Installs Officers and Honors Past Commander
Forest Park Post 414 American Legion conducted a formal installation of its new officers on Monday evening October 2 at the Legion hall. A dinner prepared by Mrs Rose Hensel preceded the ceremony with many guests in attendance. Commander Patrick J O Donnell installed Howard Mohr as commander John Talley as senior vice commander William Schlupp Jr as junior vice commander Don W Brown as adjutant Henry M Lehovitz as finance officer Dale Kramer as chaplain Frank Golden as sgt at arms. Outgoing commander Fred C Becker received a gold post commander's badge a jewelled past commander's button and an Elgin watch presented by Past Commander Henry M Lebovitz. Becker also presented a solid gold life membership card to Forest Park Fest 414 first commander William A Schlupp. Guests included Commander Nelson of the local VFW Mayor Reich and several district officials along with Forest Park Kiwanis and Lions representatives.

Larceny Reported at Harlem Foodmart on Roosevelt Street
A larceny incident at Harlem Foodmart, 7207 Roosevelt, was reported October 1 after suspects broke a side window pane, cut through plasterboard, and entered the store. Police are investigating the burglary and reviewing security footage.

John Church Plans Campaign To Raise Eighty Thousand
St John Ev Lutheran Church of Forest Park plans an eighty thousand dollar campaign to fund renovation and repairs. A planning committee with Otto Wentland Albert Guommer and Henry Kopp plus Pastor Erwin L Paul will enlist about four hundred workers to inform congregants and invite participation. Work proposed includes decorating painting lighting system flooring stained glass organ basement renovations roof repairs and heating controls. The 97 year old church stresses its enduring beauty and sturdiness. Services Sunday are 9 15 a 10 45 English and 8 00 German with Sunday School at 9 15.
