Forest Park River Forest Lions plan October 10 candy day to raise funds for blind and visually handicapped aid statewide in Illinois. Lions president Don Stange says each candy roll exchange helps local projects 40 percent stays in Forest Lions Treasury for programs such as Lions Light Conservation with a tentative November 16, 1969 date. Patrick Hull, son of Mr and Mrs Stanley Hull of 1502 Marengo, has been promoted to Specialist Fourth Class while serving as a helicopter crew chief with the 01st Airborne Division near Hue, Vietnam. In October he will travel to the Philippines for R and R and hopes to visit his brother in law Navy Airman Thomas Zaborowski of Parma, Ohio.

Lt. Zimmerman Dies Suddenly in Forest Park
Lieutenant Robert Zimmerman of the Forest Park police died suddenly Wednesday night after a heart attack in the police garage. He served in the Coast Guard 1942 45 and joined the force in 1948. He was promoted to sergeant in 1963 and lieutenant in 1966. He is survived by his wife Alice Crowley two children two sisters and three brothers and was buried after a memorial Mass at St Bernardine’s with interment at Queen of Heaven.

Annual Oktoberfest in Forest Park Draws Large Crowd
Nearly 10 000 attendees over the three day Forest Park Oktoberfest enjoyed a parade and perfect weather. Rides such as a merry go round Ferris wheel and Scrambler drew thousands of children while German cuisine and imported beer fueled socializing. Local booths offered games and merchandise as volunteers under Fred Marunde and Glenn Schultz praised the event and vowed an even bigger festival next year.
